Tennis Midlands are very proud to have joined forces with Sport981. Our experience of international tennis standards stresses the increasing significance of physical conditioning and body preparation. Directors Gareth and Ian Hall manage our physical conditioning staff, write world-class programmes and train our elite level players.
Sport981 specialise in functional testing and customised sport specific physical programmes. We work seamlessly with the coaches at Tennis Midlands to develop a truly holistic approach to continued player development both on and off the court.
To date we have been successful in developing national and international
champions in a variety of sports in addition to being consultants to
some of the UK’s most prestigious organisations and sports clubs.
Our Tennis specific programme aims to address the individual needs of
a developing player to maximise performance and minimise injury risk.
Our global objectives are to develop tennis specific flexibility, core, balance, reactive skills, speed and speed s trength to;
• Improve your baseline-to-volley acceleration and deceleration;
• Create better balance into the split-step;
• Increase the efficiency of your footwork by learning the proper
biomechanics of your baseline play;
• Get to your shot quicker and with better balance, improving the
effectiveness of your ground strokes and allowing you to recover back
to the centre mark of the court more efficiently;
• Improve your pace on ground strokes by becoming more efficient
at coiling, transferring the rotational power from your hips to the racket;
• Be "lighter" and more elastic on the court through foot
quickness drills and elasticity drills;
• Play your last point with the same speed, power, and endurance
as your played your first point through endurance training;
• Learn strategies to help you recover better and more rapidly
between matches and tournaments;
• Protect your rotator cuff by improving your shoulder flexibility,
stability, and specific strengthening, allowing you to play longer with
less pain;
• Reduce injury risks by early identification and
pre-habilitation
training.
